Here are some top performers from last week's Illinois high school sports scene:
St. Rita running back Jahwon Akui did it again, rushing for 206 yards on 17 carries and scoring five touchdowns in a 54-18 win over Mount Carmel.
Lake Zurich running back Jacob Brinlee gained 228 yards and scored three times, including an 83-yard touchdown run, on the way to a 38-14 win over Warren.
Defensive players often get ignored, by Loyola linebacker Pat Dougherty had five sacks as Loyola topped Brother Rice 24-7.
Defensive back Peter Houlihan of Providence returned two interceptions for touchdowns defensively and also caught a touchdown pass of 57 yards as Providence beat Fenwick 42-7.
Running back Angel Maldonado from Leyden ran for 299 yards and scored five times as Leyden clobbered Willowbrook 40-6.
Lane running back Thaddeus Scott carried the ball 41 times, gained 276 yards and scored four times in his team's 37-14 win over Chicago Young.
Fremd running back Evan Wright set a school record with 256 yards rushing, and he scored three times as the Vikings beat Schaumburg 38-13.
Tommy Rees, the Lake Forest quarterback headed to Notre Dame, went 14-of-20 for 333 yards and three touchdowns as Lake Forest downed Mundelein 42-6.
Zach Rockford of Sacred Heart Griffin scored four times, three on pass catches, while teammate Eric Williamson threw for 266 yards and four touchdowns as the Cyclones defeated Taylorville 47-6.
Dwight quarterback Dillon Harris completed 13 of 16 passes for 151 yards and three touchdowns as Dwight topped Lisle 37-26.
Reed-Custer defeated Herscher 20-6 thanks to five interceptions, two of them by Rory Kelsey.
