Borah at Centennial – Thursday, Oct. 15
Volleyball: The Centennial Patriots play the Borah Lions tonight at 6:30 p.m. Both are top 5A teams. The Patriots are 12-7 this season and the Lions are 8-4. Centennial won both of their games this past week, a 3-0 win against Vallivue last Thursday and a 3-0 victory against Boise on Tuesday. Borah beat Capital on Tuesday, 3-1.

Community School at Filer – Thursday, Oct. 15
Girls Soccer: With the state soccer tournament only a week away, Filer plays Community School this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. The Wildcats are 8-2-3 this season. They last tied with Buhl, 3-3, last Tuesday. The Cutthroat Trout have been a competitive 3A team as well. Their 2009 game record is 12-5-2. Community School has won their last three games, including their 4-0 victory against Buhl on Tuesday and 6-0 win against Gooding on Saturday. Filer and Community School last played each other on August 25, a 4-0 win for Filer.

Blackfoot at Skyline – Thursday, Oct. 15
Football: After their first loss of the season to Idaho Falls last week, 5A Skyline (5-1) plays undefeated No. 1 4A Blackfoot (6-0) tonight at 7:00 p.m. Blackfoot recently beat Bonneville, 42-28, and Century the week before, 20-15. A weakness for Skyline is that quarterback Michael Berger will be out of this game. He tore his MCL in the Emotion Bowl loss last week.

Capital at Vallivue – Friday, Oct. 16
Football: Undefeated No. 1 5A Capital (6-0) plays No. 5 Vallivue (5-1) tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. The Eagles have won every game they have played so far this season in a dominating fashion. Last Friday, they beat Centennial 40-6. Vallivue is also a strong team and will have the home field advantage. The Falcons lost to Centennial on October 1, 7-34, their only loss this season. Last week, they won their game against Lake City, 29-26.

Fruitland at Payette – Friday, Oct. 16
Football: Two of the top 3A football teams, the Fruitland Grizzlies and the Payette Pirates, play each other Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The Grizzlies are 4-2 after their 61-6 win against Homedale last week. The Pirates, also 4-2, defeated McCall on October 2, 29-12.

Glenns Ferry at Declo – Friday, Oct. 16
Football: The Glenns Ferry Pilots play the Declo Hornets Friday at 7:00 p.m. The two teams lead the 2A rankings, Declo at No. 1 (6-0) and Glenns Ferry at No. 3 (5-1). Declo is undefeated so far, recently winning their game against Valley, 55-7. Glenns Ferry was undefeated all season until last Friday when they lost to top 3A Buhl, 7-76.

Hillcrest at Century – Friday, Oct. 16
Football: Hillcrest plays Century tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. at Holt Arena. The Knights are ranked second in 4A with a 5-1 record, while the Diamondbacks are not far behind as the No. 5 team this week with a 4-2 record. Hillcrest won their last two games, 52-6 against Rigby last Friday, and 59-22 against Preston on September 25. Their only loss was 22-34 to Skyline, the No. 3 5A team, on September 18. Century won their game against Preston last week, 29-0, but lost to Blackfoot the week before, 15-20.

Wendell at Gooding – Friday, Oct. 16
Boys Soccer: The Wendell Trojans play the fellow 3A Gooding Senators tomorrow afternoon at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have played each other twice this fall, both victories for Gooding. The Senators defeated the Trojans 5-3 on Monday and 2-1 back in August. Wendell won their game against Community School this Wednesday, 3-2. Gooding lost 1-5 to Bliss yesterday.

Boise City Meet – Saturday, Oct. 17
Cross Country: Bishop Kelly, Boise, Borah, Capital and Timberline will compete in a low-key meet this weekend in Boise to gear up for their district meets next week. The Boise City Meet will be held at Ann Morrison Park in Boise on Saturday.
Our Picks: Emily Nist will lead the Bishop Kelly girls team and Eric Fitzpatrick of Boise should be the winner on the boys side.
