Each Tuesday CoachesAid.com releases its Hot List, which monitors those athletes in state who have been performing at the highest level.

Tennis

THERESA PETRASKO (senior) – SF O’Gorman

In the South Dakota girls state tennis tournament Theresa Petrasko’s performance was good enough to win her third straight singles state championship. Petrasko was also good enough to win in the double tournament and also carry Sioux Falls O’Gorman to a team title for 2009. Theresa was absolutely dominating this weekend over the 3 day span of the tournament and showed no mercy as she drove herself into the winner seat in multiple titles.

Soccer

ZACH JOHNSON – SF O’Gorman (Goal Keeper)

In the boys state soccer championship O’Gorman faced of reigning champions Sioux Falls Lincoln and hung tough and upset the former champs. Zach Johnson the goal keeper had a lot to do as he was under fire the entire second half and ended up deflecting a final shot with his foot as the final seconds of regulation ticked off. The Knights of O’Gorman ended up winning the shoot out as Zach Johnson shut down Lincoln’s offensive attack in regulation and also in overtime.

Football

MATT VANDEKAMP – SF Christian (senior) – QB

Fresh off their first school win Sioux Falls Christian came out again led by Matt VandeKamp and beat Beresford for their 2nd straight victory and first official winning streak. Matt VandeKamp led the Chargers with two touchdown passes on 16 for 32 passing with 152 yards. Senior VandeKamp looks to lead the Chargers to more victories as they continue to advertise themselves for greater football prominence.

NICK MEARS – Milbank (sophomore) – QB

Milbank overcame Briton-Hecla 22-14 as sophomore quarterback Nick Mears led the team with two touchdown passes. Mears also ran in another touchdown on his 22 carries for 133 yards on top of his passing of 9 for 18 and 140 yards. Nick Mears was representing the offensive attack and did it well for a week 7 victory.
