FOOTBALL
Evan McMillan (St. Paul Academy): The stat line of the season thus far? It just might be, as McMillan accounted for 615 yards – 615 yards – of total offense to help St. Paul Academy rally to a 47-46 victory over Brooklyn Center. McMillan, a senior quarterback, tallied 488 passing yards and three touchdowns, and ran for 127 and another score. The Spartans picked up their first win of the season.

Zach Farmer (Duluth East): The Greyhounds, stagnant on offense much of the season, retooled their offense in time for a 49-22 triumph over rival Duluth Denfeld, and Farmer led the way. East unleashed its junior quarterback, and Farmer responded with 283 passing yards and four touchdowns in the first half. He finished with 13 completions for 311 yards as the ’Hounds clinched at least a share of the North Country Conference title. Farmer added a 38-yard touchdown run.

Andy Pfeiffer (Mankato West): The rock-solid senior broke free for 250 rushing yards and two TDs in a 25-6 victory over Albert Lea. Pfeiffer, a workhorse for Class 4A’s No. 1-ranked team, needed just 22 carries to reach 250 yards.

Sam Conner (Osseo): Conner nearly carried the 2-4 Orioles to a stunning upset of Centennial. The junior running back gained 210 yards and scored two TDs in a 34-33 overtime loss. Osseo forged a late 27-27 tie, but missed the ensuing extra point. Centennial, ranked seventh in Class 5A, won it in the extra session.

Alex Carlstrom (McGregor): In a matchup of talented 9 Man clubs, Carlstrom stepped up in a big way, rushing 21 times for 167 yards and two clutch scores, both in the third quarter of a nail-biting 15-14 win over Floodwood. Carlstrom’s touchdown scampers came after Floodwood had grabbed a 14-0 advantage. The Mercuries, ranked No. 6, secured at least a share of the Great Northern East Division crown.

Cody Anderson (AlBrook): The senior quarterback threw for 299 yards and a remarkable six touchdowns to lead the Falcons to a 52-22 victory over Cotton.

BOYS SOCCER
Ken Ouren (Mankato West): Ouren notched a most dramatic victory for the Scarlets when he broke a scoreless tie in the second overtime with an improbable goal from midfield. Ouren’s drive, the first kick of the second OT, curled into the upper corner for the match’s lone score, which delivered a Big Nine Conference title to Mankato West.

Adam Kounkel (Monticello): Kounkel has been unbelievable busy this fall, and last week was no different. The senior goalkeeper stopped 32 of a dizzying 35 Rogers shots to help the Magic to a 3-3 tie. Two days prior, he knocked away 16 of 17 shots in a 2-1 victory over Buffalo. Kounkel owns six shutouts for the season.

VOLLEYBALL
Megan Lauck (Mounds View): Lauck became the first Mustang in program history to eclipse 1,000 career kills. The senior middle hitter had 34 combined, to go along with 36 digs, in a pair of four-set victories last week.

Kaley Melville (Watertown-Mayer): The senior outside hitter keyed a three-set sweep over Dassel-Cokato by erupting for 19 kills, an average of better than six per set. Melville has 352 kills for the 16-6 Royals.
